Stuff I’m Doing

In the past week, I have made 5 more cat toys and half a slipper.  I have also been fiddling with the sewing machine and it is now quilting adequately.

Made a hat

I just finished a new hat.  It was off the cuff, without a gauge swatch.  I made it up as I went along. It fits perfectly.  I designed it to fit around my ponytail and still keep my ears warm.  On 2 circular needles, I turkish cast on 30 stitches and increased by 4 stitches every other round.  I put the increases at the beginning and ending of each needle.  When it started to look like it was big enough to fit my head, I did a gauge measurement and found I needed to increas a little more.  When I got to the point it fit my head, I knit even until, trying it on, the front part was about 3/8 inch from my eyebrows ( I did not want this hat to be falling over my eyes).  I crochet cast off the front stitches and divided the remaining stitches onto the two needles.  No longer working in the round, I decreased 1 stitch per knit row and always purled even until there was one loop left, which i crocheted a few inches and pulled thru it finish.

A Lot in Progress

I pin basted the double four patch and pin basted 2 little quilts.  I also lined up 4 little quilts for piecing. plus, I started a hat for myself.

I pin basted the double four patch rather than thread bast, because I used washed flannel as the batting (an experiment) I didn’t feel thread basting would be worth the time as I could put the pins farther apart than the stitches.

Double 4 Patch top done

Finally I finished sewing the top.

Now I need to make the back.

Haven’t really felt like crafting

I have started a hat.  I made a few more cat toys.  I started and frogged some slippers.  I did a tiny bit of sewing and some practice quilting.  This wed-fri.  I wish a felt like doing more.

Another pair of Slippers

I designed these slippers. I am still working on getting the pattern written out.

There are no seams. The slipper is knit in the round via turkish cast on to circular needles
